Storage Unit Size Guide
Not sure what size you need? Use the guide below. If you are between sizes, go one size up: it costs less than renting a second unit later. Every storage unit is new and on the ground floor, and most sizes come in climate-controlled or drive-up. See current prices and availability.
Storage unit sizes
5x5 (25 sq ft): walk-in closet
Boxes, seasonal decorations, a dorm room, business files, or a few small furniture pieces.
5x10 (50 sq ft): small bedroom
A mattress set, a dresser, a few chairs, and 15 to 20 boxes. Good for a studio or a single room.
10x10 (100 sq ft): half a one-car garage
A one-bedroom apartment: sofa, bed, dresser, appliances, and 20 to 30 boxes.
10x15 (150 sq ft): one-car garage
A two-bedroom home with furniture and appliances.
10x20 (200 sq ft): full one-car garage
A three-bedroom home, or a car or pickup in a drive-up unit.
10x30 (300 sq ft): our largest unit
A four-bedroom home, business inventory, or contractor tools and equipment.
Climate-controlled or drive-up?
Climate-controlled units are inside the building on a lit hallway, kept within a comfortable temperature and humidity range year-round. Choose them for furniture, mattresses, electronics, photos, documents, clothing, and anything else that does not like North Carolina humidity.
Drive-up units open straight onto the paved aisle, so you back up to the door and unload. Choose them for tools, equipment, outdoor gear, and anything you load and unload often.
Vehicle, boat and RV parking
10x20: cars, pickups, utility trailers, and boats up to about 16 ft on the trailer.
10x30: boats up to about 24 ft, pontoons, and travel trailers or campers up to about 28 ft overall.
12x40: Class A motorhomes, fifth wheels, and toy haulers up to 40 ft, with extra width for slide-outs.

Sizing tips
Measure your largest pieces first; a sofa or mattress stored on end takes far less floor space.
Stack heavy boxes on the bottom and leave a narrow aisle so you can reach the back.
